Back on October 23, 2017 (yes, I had to look up the exact date in my email inbox!), I received an email from Maycee, a fellow photographer, inquiring about photographing her wedding in South Dakota on October 12, 2018. More importantly, she was looking for someone who was willing to split their time between two days. Maycee explained that she and her fiance, Tyler, were having an intimate wedding ceremony with only their immediate family on Friday, October 12 at her parent’s farm in Columbia, SD and then having a big reception, “Camp Hatzenbeller,” with the rest of their family and friends on Saturday, October 13 at Richmond Lake Youth Camp near Aberdeen, SD. I was more than happy to accept her request and take photos for her wedding celebration over the course of two days.
As things would have it, Mother Nature had a mind of her own just days before their wedding and dumped a bunch of snow in Aberdeen as well as many of the surrounding areas, including Maycee’s parents farm. Luckily, it warmed up some the day of their wedding ceremony and even though there was still snow on the ground, we made the best out of it. Luckily, the area they were having the ceremony at the farm didn’t have any snow and believe it or not, it still looked like it was fall!! That’s a win in my book!
Maycee & Tyler, you were such a delight to work with! I can speak for Zach and myself that we so enjoyed spending two days with you and your families! We haven’t laughed that much at a wedding in a while. Thank you for allowing us to photograph your beautiful wedding and reception!
Here’s a long, plenty over due little preview of what’s to come in a future blog post from their October wedding.
